Pub Politics.

A new (and factitiously named) ethnographic research project, looking into the pub culture of the UK.

In my adult life, I have always been integrated within pub culture, having conversations with friends and punters which may rival the greatest philosophers, decorated by condensated pint glasses and sticky bar tops.

The development of this investigation maintains elements of the Slow Cinema method; long takes, naturalistic location, acting style and use of sound, but allows for more manoeuvrability in film form and content; both documentarian and almost a work of fiction.

I hope to contribute to research by changing the context of what these pubs represent culturally, poetically and symbolically, as well as apply personal experience to these facets. The case study: the Coach & Horses on the Green, is a sort of home to me and my fellow patrons, now the question is:  To what extent can pub culture in the UK be revealed through integrated slow cinema practices?
